Children Helping Hands International's executive team, led by Inger Asplund, oversees our work to deliver on our ambition: a world where every last child survives, learns and is protected.

We are committed to being open and accountable to our supporters, partners, and most of all, children.

Inger Asplund is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Children Helping Hands International - one of the world´s largest independent organisation working to ensure every child survives, learns and is protected. A respected child rights activist, she set up her own youth organisation at the age of 12, working against racism and violence at county level. She has been associated with Children Helping Hands for more than 25 years.

Previously Inger was Director General at the Swedish Agency against Segregation, a Swedish government agency to reduce segregation and social inequality. She has served as the National Coordinator for Youth Not in Education or Employment, Deputy Director General of the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society and the CEO of the Global Child Forum. Inger is also a member of the Ethics Council at The Swedish Migration Agency.

She has been an expert to and board member of several authorities and committees such as the Delegation for Human Rights, the Swedish National Knowledge Centre on Violence against Children, the Delegation for the Employment of Young People and Newly Arrived Migrants, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, the National Board of Institutional Care, and the Monitoring Committee for The European Social Fund.

She served as Chair of ‘Joining Forces’ - an alliance of the six largest child-focused international NGOs, is a Principal for the Steering Committee for Humanitarian Response (SCHR) and was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General as a member of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Lead Group. She is a Founder Director on the Board of Children Helping Hands Global Ventures to leverage new finance models and catalyse private sector investment with the goal of transforming the lives of the world’s most disadvantaged children and their communities.

The Children Helping Hands International Board manages the business of the charity, ensures that all activities are within UK law and agreed charitable objects and is responsible for the oversight of, and agreeing the financial plan for, international programmes. They are drawn from a wide field of experience, including children's rights, healthcare, strategy, law and business.

Board Chair

Karin Lindström serves as the Board Chair of Children Helping Hands International, bringing decades of executive leadership, strategic governance, and global business experience to the organisation.

As Board Chair, Karin provides strategic oversight and governance to Children Helping Hands International, ensuring the organisation remains focused on its mission to protect children's rights, strengthen communities, and deliver high-impact humanitarian and development programmes worldwide. She works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors to guide long-term strategy, promote accountability, strengthen organisational sustainability, and uphold the highest standards of transparency and ethical leadership.

Karin is passionate about empowering vulnerable children and communities through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable partnerships. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to responsible governance, social impact, and building resilient organisations capable of creating lasting change.
